Well, since everyone else was chatting up storms about their new games, I wanted in on it.
While this technically isn't a new game (And not even the Greatest Hits version, meaning I'm out some stuff they added to the XBOX and GH PS2 versions), it's new to me, and being a fan of the original one, I'm satisfied with it, even with how it played out. Admitted though, it's rated M, and pretty creepy. Best avoid it if you don't like either of those.
Picked this up at the game trader for a cool $10 in a PS2 bin, when I initially went to get the original Silent Hill. Ironic, eh? Well, the original was $30, and a Playstation game that was used. A friend of mine paid $50 over the net for a new copy. So apparently some people rank the original up in terms of classics.
As for the game itself, as I've said, I came, I saw, I enjoyed. My expectations from the first game (I.E. - the surprise factor), helped keep it from surprising me too much, but it did have it's moments, mostly in how the story went.
For those into less action, more mind-games, the Silent Hill series is well noted among people as being a survival horror, like Resident Evil, but with less emphasis on action and more on puzzles. And unlike the original, you can choose the difficulty levels for action and puzzles, and separately I might add. If, for instance, you want as little action as possible, but mind-explodingly hard puzzles (I'm looking at YOU, Adrian), you can set Action to "Beginner" (Which was so easy I practically felt like I was playing a toddler game. Never died, never had to use any weapon besides a basic pistol through the whole thing, or more than 10 shots on anything, including the last boss.), and Puzzles to "Hard" (Though some puzzles were tricky even on "Easy" to figure out.)
One thing to note. This isn't quite like the other Silent Hill games. It plays the same, but there's more than meets the eye.
